Dayton (Ohio) Children’s has adopted Abridge’s ambient AI for clinical documentation, becoming one of the first pediatric health systems to deploy the technology.
Abridge’s ambient listening technology transcribes healthcare visits then drafts clinical notes that are directly uploaded to the EHR.
“The question for health systems is not really, ‘Should we do ambient AI?’ because ambient will very quickly be the expected functionality for providers,” Dayton Children’s CIO J.D. Whitlock said in a May 7 news release. “The question is, who is the best strategic partner for ambient? We chose Abridge because of the quality of the AI-generated notes, their depth of integration with Epic, the hospital’s EHR system, and their aggressive product roadmap.”
Dayton Children’s move follows Akron (Ohio) Children’s selecting Abridge as its ambient AI vendor in February. Abridge supports more than 50 medical specialties, with uses for both outpatient and inpatient settings as well as emergency departments.
