Tony Esposito, former CEO of Crozer Health, has been named the CEO of one of Philadelphia-based Temple Health’s physician groups and the CFO of another.
Mr. Esposito will serve as CEO of Temple Physicians, the system’s network of community-based providers, according to a May 1 news release. He will serve as CFO of Temple Faculty Physicians, which has more than 500 clinician-educators and researchers.
He will report to Temple Health CFO Jerry Oetzel, who said Mr. Esposito has a “proven track record of improving operations, driving growth, and maximizing revenue through team building, uniting diverse groups and forging strong physician partnerships.”
Mr. Esposito stepped down from his role as CEO of Upland, Pa.-based Crozer on April 18. He had served as chief executive since July 2022. Three days after Mr. Esposito’s departure, Crozer’s parent company, Prospect Medical Holdings, announced the system was shutting down.
In a letter shared with state officials, Los Angeles-based Prospect said it had been working with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office to facilitate a sale of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital. However, on April 18, the company learned that no prospective buyers — including the University of Pennsylvania Health System, which had offered $5 million to extend negotiations — would proceed.
In addition to his role as CEO of Crozer, Mr. Esposito served as the president of Crozer Health Medical Group, the system’s multi-specialty physician practice.
