Linda Walker has been appointed CEO of Llano (Texas) Regional Hospital, effective May 19.
Llano Regional established independent governance on April 1, according to a May 19 hospital news release. In her new role, Ms. Walker will oversee operations and collaborate with the board and hospital authority to secure payer contracts and recruit clinical talent.
Ms. Walker most recently served as CEO of Val Verde Regional Medical Center in Del Rio, Texas. She held that role for five years after previously serving as COO of the medical center.
She succeeds Hatch Smith Jr., who resigned April 15 to take on a new role. Mr. Smith was one of 12 employees furloughed by the 25-bed critical access hospital in December.
The hospital, formerly known as MidCoast Medical Center-Central, joined Mid Coast Health System in 2021 and was converted to critical access status. It later separated from the system following disputes over its financial viability.
