UF Health taps inaugural chief clinical officer

Gainesville, Fla.-based UF Health has appointed John Phipps, MD, as its inaugural chief clinical officer, effective April 14.

In his new role, Dr. Phipps will oversee the system’s clinical operations, along with its work around safety, quality and access to care. He will also help grow the system’s physician practice management services, according to a March 18 news release.

Dr. Phipps comes to UF Health from Falls Church, Va.-based Inova Health System, where he most recently served as chief care transformation officer. He has also held past leadership roles at Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health, including as system executive vice president and president of the Novant Health Medical Group, service lines and physician network.
