Jeff Alvarez, MSN, RN, has been named chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at UPMC Washington and UPMC Greene, both part of Pittsburgh-based UPMC Health System.
The health system’s chief nurse executive, Maribeth McLaughlin, BSN, RN, shared news of Mr. Alvarez’s new role in an April 30 post on LinkedIn. He has spent more than a decade in nursing leadership roles at the health system, most recently as CNO of UPMC East in Monroeville, Pa., and UPMC McKeesport (Pa.).
During his tenure at UPMC, Mr. Alvarez has led efforts to improve staff engagement and patient care measures.
He succeeds Karen Bran, MSN, RN, as chief nurse of UPMC Washington (Pa.) and UPMC Greene in Waynesburg, Pa. Ms. Bran plans to retire later this year.
