Barbara Nichols, RN, who served as president and CEO of Corry (Pa.) Memorial Hospital from 2000 to 2023, died April 28 at age 75.

“Barb was an amazing leader, mentor, and person,” the hospital said in an April 29 Facebook post. “She dedicated her life to making a positive difference for others. Her love of the community drove her to provide outstanding healthcare for those in Corry and the surrounding areas.”

Ms. Nichols retired in 2023 after six decades in healthcare. She began her career at Corry Memorial as a candy striper at age 12, later working as a nurse’s aide and registered nurse.

During her tenure as CEO, she led efforts to secure Corry Memorial’s designation as a critical access hospital in 2005 and oversaw the construction of a new hospital building in 2012, the  Erie Times-News reported May 9.
